Aims and objectives
The GSHPE, holistically aims to promote, encourage and contribute to the propagation of health promotion and health education for the attainment of health of the people in the country through:
- Maintaining intimate rapport with national and state governments and other NGOs involved in health promotion and building up National Health Policy.
- Establishing effective programme oriented links with professional organizations and utilize their knowledge expertise and experience in the implementation of health promotion projects and programmes.
- Facilitating countrywide exchange of information and experiences on health promotion and education for strengthening and streamlining health promotion activities.
- Promoting design and development of programme oriented IEC materials for providing health promotion and education support to public health programmes through different channels of communication including traditional media.
- Promoting and conducting project oriented field studies and action research for including innovative methods and media to bring in desired behavioral and attitudinal changes in the community towards delivery of health care services.
- Encouraging/undertaking capacity building of different categories of health and media personnel with regard to IEC – Technology.
- Providing consultancy and advisory services on health promotion and IEC design and fabrication of projects and programmes at all levels.
- Organizing periodical conferences, workshops, symposiums, seminars etc. to stimulate/focus for generating awareness on burning health problems and newly emerging diseases.
